Identify the pot before shopping
A replacement part is a small purchase with an unusually easy ordering mistake: “Bialetti, six cups” does not fully identify it. Write down model family, capacity and generation, then compare the old part with the manufacturer's table.
This guide starts with Moka Express and Venus because they have separate parts families. It is a buying aid, not a universal fit guarantee for every pot sold under those names.
- Check the box, manual or original order for the model and cup size.
- With the pot cool and disassembled, measure the old ring's inside and outside diameters in millimeters.
- Measure the filter plate separately. A matching outer ring diameter alone is insufficient.
- Read the replacement package contents and compatibility list before ordering.
A useful size cross-check
| Family / capacity | Ring inside / outside | Filter diameter |
|---|---|---|
| Moka Express 1-cup | 40 / 51 mm | 47 mm |
| Moka Express 2-cup | 41 / 57 mm | 50 mm |
| Moka Express 3/4-cup | 50 / 65 mm | 57 mm |
| Moka Express 6-cup | 55 / 71 mm | 64 mm |
| Moka Express 9-cup | 63 / 81 mm | 73 mm |
| Moka Express 12-cup | 74 / 90 mm | 82 mm |
| Venus / Musa / Kitty 4-cup | 51 / 65 mm | 60 mm |
| Venus / Musa / Kitty 6-cup | 56 / 72 mm | 66 mm |
Reference: Bialetti NZ's Moka family table and stainless model table, checked September 28, 2026. Treat these as a cross-check for the models listed there; confirm your own version and the replacement seller's dimensions.
Notice the 4-cup example: the two rings have the same listed outside diameter, but the inside diameter and filter plate differ. This is why “it looks about right” is not a sufficient way to choose a kit.
Gasket and filter-plate sets by Moka Express size
These links are size-specific shopping starting points. Compare the listing's model and measurements with your pot before ordering. A flat filter plate is held beneath the upper chamber by the gasket; it is not the basket-shaped funnel.
Moka Express 1-cup set
The linked listing identifies a Bialetti gasket and filter replacement for a 1-cup Moka Express. Check the model and selected package before purchase.

This is a separate 2-cup gasket and filter listing. The 2-cup ring and plate dimensions differ from the 1-cup set above.
View 2-cup gasket and filter on Amazon →Moka Express 3/4-cup set
The linked Amazon US listing identifies a pack of three gaskets and one plate for the 3/4-cup Moka Express family. Check your measurements and selected variant; do not treat it as a Venus kit.

This listing identifies three gaskets and one filter for the 6-cup Moka Express. It is a separate selection from the smaller set.

The 9-cup gasket and plate have their own dimensions in the manufacturer's table. Confirm that the selected listing names your model.

For a 12-cup Moka Express, compare the old gasket and plate with the 12-cup row before selecting this kit.

Replacement funnels are a different part
The funnel is the removable basket that holds the coffee grounds inside the lower chamber. Bialetti's funnel size table lists diameter and length separately: 1 cup 44 × 46 mm, 2 cup 52 × 54 mm, 3 cup 60 × 60 mm, and 6 cup 66 × 82 mm. Measure both dimensions on the old funnel and confirm the model family; a 3-cup and 4-cup funnel share a diameter but have different lengths.
Moka Express 1-cup funnel
Choose this basket only if your original funnel and the listing's model information match the 1-cup version.

The 2-cup funnel is a different size from the 1-cup and 3-cup baskets. Check your original basket against the manufacturer's measurements.

Check the 60 mm diameter and 60 mm length against your old 3-cup funnel rather than substituting a 4-cup basket.

This listing names the 6-cup Moka Express funnel. It is not a replacement for the filter plate in the upper chamber.

The E&B Lab by IMS Competition Moka filter is a third-party filter plate, not a Bialetti funnel. Its manufacturer lists a 3-cup version with a 57 mm external diameter and 49.2 mm internal diameter. Compare these dimensions with your original plate and the included gasket information before ordering. We have not tested a taste improvement, so treat its finer perforations as a design difference rather than a promised result.

Do not use a loose or damaged handle to lift a hot pot. The linked Bialetti replacement handle is listed for 3- and 4-cup Moka Express models; compare the original attachment before purchase. Bialetti NZ says replacement handles must be attached by an authorised repairer. The Moka Express manual also warns against using the handle as a lever to open or close the pot.
View 3/4-cup replacement handle on Amazon →Venus, Brikka and Moka Induction need their own checks
For Venus, begin with the Venus / Musa / Kitty parts table and retain that family name when you shop. Do not substitute the Moka Express links above just because the cup count matches.
For Brikka and Moka Induction, identify the generation before choosing a funnel or other component. Bialetti's spares catalog separates older and newer funnel versions. A gasket compatibility entry does not prove that the funnels are interchangeable.
If your old part differs from the published measurements, stop at that discrepancy. Send the manufacturer or seller the model information and measurements rather than ordering several near matches.
Replacing the seal is also a chance to inspect the pot
Follow your pot's illustrated assembly instructions. Clean the seating area, inspect the plate and funnel, and check the new seal lies flat before reassembly. Do not stack seals or cut a replacement to make it fit.
The Moka Express instruction sheet calls for compatible original parts and recommends replacing the gasket at least once a year, or when worn. For routine care, see how to clean a moka pot.
If leakage continues after correct assembly with the correct parts, investigate the cause rather than compensating with excessive tightening. A damaged body or a repeatedly venting safety valve needs attention beyond a new gasket.
Common questions
Does the same cup count guarantee the same gasket?
No. Match the model family as well as capacity. Gasket inner diameter, outer diameter and filter-plate diameter can differ between families.
Can I trim a gasket that is too large?
Do not modify a replacement to force a fit. Recheck the model, dimensions and listing, and obtain the compatible part.
When should I replace the gasket?
Replace a worn or damaged gasket and follow the interval in your model instructions. The cited Moka Express manual recommends replacement at least annually; do not wait if the seal fails earlier.
